AN AWARD-WINNING careers adviser from Tregaron has won a prestigious over-50s start-up business award.

Carolyn Parry received her PRIME Cymru Business Start Up award from the charity’s patron, the Prince of Wales, at Swansea’s historic Brangwyn Hall.

She is a national career coaching trainer for the Association of Graduate Careers Advisory Services, a member of the Professional Register of the Career Development Institute and the founder director of Career Alchemy.

Speaking prior to the awards, Carolyn, who took voluntary severance a year ago, said: “I am delighted to have been nominated and shortlisted for this prestigious award.

“According to research just five per cent of people in the UK are doing work they love.

“Due to making wrong choices, many people fail to maximise their potential and instead often experience high levels of stress at work, leading to ill health and disaffection.

“I know first-hand what it is like to be miserable at work, either because of choosing to do the wrong thing, or doing the right thing in the wrong place or with the wrong people, and I wanted to change that for others, so I took the plunge and set up the business.

“Career Alchemy now offers a range of inspiring, affordable, and accessible online and face to face career coaching and development courses and services to help individuals and businesses identify and achieve their potential purposefully.”
