A BLAENAU Ffestiniog pharmacy has scooped two trophies at a top industry awards night.

Eleven members of staff from D Powys Davies Pharmacy travelled to the Vale Resort in Cardiff for the annual Welsh Pharmacy Awards, an event organised by Medcom, which celebrates the profession in Wales, recognising success and innovation that has had positive impact on patient care.

D Powys Davies Pharmacy had been shortlisted in four categories: Innovations in Quality and Efficiency through Technology, Independent Pharmacy Practice of the Year, Innovations in Service Delivery in Community Pharmacy and Business Development of the Year.

Eleven awards were presented during the ceremony, judged by a panel of respected judges from the pharmacy profession in Wales.

The team from D Powys Davies Pharmacy were successful in winning two of these categories.

The Business Development of the Year award was presented to the team for the work they have done in developing the pharmacy premises and developing a range of new services.

Since being taken over by the independent pharmacy group Fferyllwyr Llyn Cyf in 2017, the premises have been fully refitted to give patients access to timely and high-quality advice and services.

The development of the premises has allowed the introduction of new services, such as medicines review, smoking cessation clinics, travel health clinics, blood pressure measuring, discharge medicines reviews and the minor ailments service.

The introduction of these services has contributed to high quality advice and treatment for local patients from a convenient and patient-friendly environment on the Blaenau Ffestiniog High Street.
