A NEW project to create a ‘heritage hub’ for mid Wales could help attract tourists to the region, the group behind the idea has suggested.
The proposal for a hub which would benefit mid Wales as a whole has been welcomed by Montgomeryshire AM Russell George, and Ann Evans, one of the founder members of HH4MW which is behind the scheme, has said it would include academics and historians.
The hub would be based in Newtown, which is where HH4MW was formed, but would provide a facility for mid Wales as a whole.
Ann said: “HH4MW will focus on harnessing the creative capacities of communities in mid Wales to provide transformational engagements and research production with communities, academics, historians and heritage custodians.
“Historical archives and memories are the assets that forge our identity and pride within our communities and creating this new major high tech cultural heritage visitor attraction in the heart of mid Wales for the communities of this region and providing an all-year round visitor ‘edutainment’ attraction for national and international visitors.
