THE monthly book sale which has been available at the library will come to an end this weekend.

Clinic

THE Town Council has organised a meeting with representatives of some 13 area community and town councils to debate the proposal of converting the former Towyn Road Physiotherapy Clinic into a local hospice.

Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board has given the council till the end of September to come up with plans for the site which the health board are willing to give to the town free of charge. If there are no definite plans by then the site will be going back on sale.

The first meeting will be held at the WI Hall on 3 September and it is due to be followed with a public meeting at Ysgol y Moelwyn on 17 September when the final decision on the project will be a yes or a no.

Choir

AFTER their short break Moelwyn Male Choir resume their concerts at the Royal Oak Hotel, Betws y Coed, this Friday evening and after which they will be there every fortnight for the next few months.

Gallery

THE Maenofferen Gallery hosts an Arts Festival exhibition until next month and admission is free during the library’s opening hours.

Band

THE Oakeley Silver Band under their conductor Paul Wilson gave a concert at the Abererch Sands Caravan Park with guest soloist Barry Grayson and the band’s young repiano (cornet) player Hanna Evans also sang twice and was given a standing ovation on both occasions.

The concert was to raise funds towards a new lifeboat station at Pwllheli and the evening raised over £3,000 for the RNLI.

Bowls

THE Bowling Club had a 10-2 home win over a Colwyn Bay Legion side who were two players short. The Blaenau winners were Dafydd, Barry John and Martin Hughes, Richard Elwyn, Stephen and Dylan V Jones. Their next two matches are this Thursday at Bangor and then home to Rhos Park A on Saturday.
