THE latest community news from Llanbedr

Community council

The community council monthly meeting was held at the village hall last Thursday evening with full representation from the councillors, and as usual a number of issues were raised.

The council is still waiting for a response from Gwynedd Council regarding the replacement of the footbridge at Pentre Gwynfryn.

The old bridge has been removed along with the fallen tree.

The Huchenfeld delegation has arrived home safely and they received a warm welcome in Huchenfeld.

It will be Llanbedr doing the hosting next October.

A number of workshops were conducted at Huchenfeld about the way forward with the twinning.

It was agreed that both councils would establish a subcommittee that would meet at least twice a year in order to continue with the twinning.

There will be a number of councillors on the subcommittee, but two non-councillor members have already volunteered and the council is very keen for other individuals from the village to be involved.

Anyone interested should inform the clerk or chairman.

Cllr Robin Ward had been to a meeting between community councils and the Snowdonia National Park recently.

The meeting was well attended and very informative.

The footpaths/woodland project is still progressing with its plans to promote access to woodland walks around Llanbedr and are looking into producing notice boards for the various woodlands to include maps of circular footpath routes around Llanbedr.

The project aims to be in a position to install a notice board in the square at Llanbedr fairly soon.

Various planning applications were received via emails containing a web link to the national park planning portal.

But again, a number of the councillors were unable to access the information, and have asked the clerk to inform the Planning department of this in order that the council receives a hard copy in future.

The audited reports for the council accounts for 2017/18 have been finalised and a notice will be posted on the Llanbedr.com web page and on the village notice board in due course.

During the Remembrance Service on Sunday, 11 November, the road between the Victoria Inn and T? Mawr and the road to the Ystâd y Wenallt estate and to Pentre Gwynfryn and the valleys behind Llanbedr will be closed to vehicles from 10.30am until 11.15am.

The service will begin by the war memorial at around 10.40am.

A small exhibition to remember the men of Llanbedr lost while serving with the armed forces since 1914 will be on display at the village hall to mark the 100-year anniversary of the First World War Armistice.

A cuppa and cake will be available free of charge at the exhibition.

If you are interested, the exhibition will be set up on Saturday and should be ready by 4pm for viewing.
