Community Council

A PLANNING application was received, for a temporary drill compound for up to 12 months for a scientific research project.

An international team of scientists and geologists propose to revisit Mochras to drill for core samples of the Jurassic period.

The council supported this application but with some reservations. That road safety was upheld, especially with the lorries travelling to and from the site, over Llanbedr bridge, and also that consideration was taken to noise levels whilst drilling.

Work is in progress regarding the footpath leaflet that the council are organising to include around six circular paths within easy access for walks. Need to establish the costs involved, and how to finance the project.

The cradle seats on swings in the park have been replaced, and the equipment has undergone a safety inspection from G L Jones of Bethesda.

But once again the teddy bear bin keeps going on walkabouts through the village. Unfortunately this has gone beyond a joke at the moment, and does raise the issue of safety.

The council are discussing installing a defibrillator for the village. This will be kindly funded through a private donation, by a visitor who greatly enjoyed Llanbedr area.

The second payment for the Ardudwy Leisure from the precept has been sent, and Llanbedr Council have enquired to see what allocations are in place for the next financial year.

At present Llanbedr have secured two payments of £1,899.36 from the precept.

Other matters that were discussed relating to Gwynedd Council, cutting grass verges, water accumulating on the road opposite Y Felin.

Also the much discussed new road at Llanbedr. Annwen Hughes, their Gwynedd Council representative has been inquiring about the planning application, Following the National Park’s request for additional information, YGC have responded to all their comments except for two which are photomontages and the flood consequence assessment (FCA).

The photomontages are nearly ready to submit to the NPA. However with the FCA, there have been more communication with NRW, and YGC have responded to their most recent comments. YGC are pushing to ensure that the application is put before the NPA as soon as possible.

The Remembrance Sunday Service will start from the St Peter’s Church at around 10.30am, to arrive at the war memorial for 10.40am, for the start of the service on 12 November.
