Bowls

MACHYNLLETH, needing to win well against visitors Kerry to Llynlloedd green on Thursday, 15 August, to retain any hopes of capturing this season’s Montgomeryshire County Bowling Association’s County Men’s League Division One championship, rose to the occasion and won by an overwhelming 73 shots.

Securing six points to Kerry’s one, the Llynlloedd bowlers now require a six-point victory at home to Welshpool to pip current leaders Berriew for the title, during an extraordinary campaign which, after early-season setbacks, saw them as near relegation candidates.
