Clwb Cinio
ON Wednesday, 25 April, 41 members had lunch at Y Talbot.
Aled Lewis, the watch manager of Tregaron Fire Station came to talk to members. He said that the fire service was there to offer free home fire safety checks, advice and help; that all smoke alarms should be checked weekly to ensure that they are functioning properly; and that most elderly people should have a carbon monoxide alarm.
He said that if you need to call for the First Responder ensure that you give clear instructions where you live with your post code and have exterior lighting on so they know where to stop.

WI
MICK Tordoff from Llangeitho, spoke to the members at the April meeting.
He is a computer ‘whiz kid’ and was able to tell all attending lots of things that many of them didn’t know, including internet banking, online purchasing and generally about the day-to-day use and maintenance of computers, iPads and mobiles.
Mick is very involved with the community of Llangeitho. He has organised film evenings at the hall and has shown old photos, helping folks to identify neighbours and loved ones.
The vote of thanks was given by Gayle Jeffery.
The next meeting, Harp Music with Heledd Davies, will be held in the Memorial Hall on Wednesday, 9 May, at 7.30pm.

The service on Sunday, 6 May will be held in the Pantyfedwen hall, Pontrhydfendigaid, beginning at 2.30pm and led by Dionne Sherwood.
Clwb Cerdded
THE next walk is scheduled for 12 May and has been organised by Lucy/Avarinah (01974 261789).
On its way back to the sea this varied route has beautiful views over the Dyfi estuary, takes in hidden dells, woodland and farmland before passing along the edge of the Dyfi nature reserve.
Bring packed lunch. There will be a chance to buy tea and cake at Clettwr café, Tre’r-ddôl.
The meeting point is Borth railway station – allow enough time to be ready to get the train by 9.30am.
The walk is to last approximately 6.5 hours and is graded a moderate walk which covers 10 miles with an ascent of 340m/1,100ft.
British Legion (Women’s Section)
A warm welcome was extended by chairwoman Ann Jones.
Sympathy was extended to president Ann Jones for the loss of her brother, Tom Edwards.
The guest speaker was Rev Victoria Hackett, who gave a vivid description of her career and experiences as a teacher for underprivileged children and emigrants in London.
After retiring she moved to Lampeter, was called to the ministry and is at present a vicar at St Peters church.
A vote of thanks was given by Mary Lewis for a most interesting and enjoyable evening. The tea hostesses were Karine Davies, Jane Hughes and Bethan Bennett.
The raffle was given by Bethan Bennett and won by Ann Davies.
Members celebrated the Cawl Gwyl Ddewi with Gareth Richards at y Goedwig, Lampeter. Gareth is a well-known chef and is seen on a regular basis on S4C’s Prynhawn Da.
Warm winter punch and aperitifs were served on arrival. Ann Jones welcomed all members and the exhortation was read and a silent tribute observed. Lyn Gealy said grace.
Delicious cawl was enjoyed, three different tasters of desserts, Welsh cakes and Bara Brith followed by tea and coffee and mints. Elizabeth Cameron thanked Pat Jones for arranging the cawl, and to Gareth for a memorable evening thoroughly enjoyed by everyone. The raffle was won by Mary Lewis.
