Council-run leisure facilities in Ceredigion will remain closed until at least January 2021, as non-council owned community facilities are also urged to consider whether they should reopen.
The Welsh Government announced that sporting facilities could reopen from 9 November, when the firebreak lockdown finished, and up to 15 people can take part in indoor activities organised by a club or recognised body.
But Ceredigion County Council’s Gold Command has announced that leisure facilities run by Ceredigion Council, which were closed on 28 September, will “remain closed as a precautionary measure”.
This decision will be reviewed in January 2021.
These facilities are Aberaeron Leisure Centre, Lampeter Leisure Centre, Lampeter Swimming Pool, Penglais Sports Hall, Cardigan Artificial Turf Pitch, and Synod Inn Artificial Turf Pitch.
This decision also includes council sports fields, schools playing/sports field, and astro turfs.
Ceredigion Council are also urging non-council owned community facilities to “continue to meet virtually wherever possible” and to ensure indoor activities are Covid safe.
A spokesperson for Ceredigion County Council said: “Please continue to meet virtually wherever possible and when organising indoor activities keep your sessions brief and small in participant numbers, ensure that everyone maintains a two metre distance from others, wear a face covering and people are encouraged to regularly wash and sanitise their hands.
“Prior to re-opening a community facility, those responsible must ensure that they are ‘Covid-Free Zones’ “
