A LOVING sister is to run a marathon in aid of her younger brother whose life has been put on hold because of inflammatory bowel disease.
Josie Parkhouse, 24, an Aberystwyth University Masters graduate who now works three different jobs for the university, is training five times a week in preparation for the Liverpool Marathon in aid of Crohn’s and Colitis UK.
The charity is close to Josie’s heart because her 17-year-old brother, William, who has ambitions of being a doctor, suffers with colitis, a type of inflammatory bowel disease which has meant he required life-changing surgery and will now live with a colostomy bag for the rest of his life.
Josie added: “His career dream is to be a doctor, but he’s had to take a year out of education because he needed to recover from surgery so wasn’t able to do AS levels with his friends this year.”
Approximately 260,000 people in the UK are living with Crohn’s or colitis, and Josie has already raised £700 of her £3,000 target as she looks to support the Crohn’s and Colitis UK charity and raise awareness of the condition.
