The first phase of a new playground in Machynlleth has been unveiled, giving access to children of all abilities.
Future Play Machynlleth, a voluntary group set-up to provide a more accessible playground, opened the first part of the improved park last week.
Danielle Armstrong, chair of Future Play Machynlleth, is delighted with the results, and hopes others will be too.
“The first phase of installing the new playground is now complete and we are so glad this could be achieved before spring,” she said.
“A small area of the playground is still currently fenced off but that is simply for the new turf to be allowed to take root and grow properly without being turned into a muddy mess. We really appreciate people’s patience and respect for this area. It will look lovely when it is a bit more established.
“We are also in the process of planning some plant beds and sensory plant areas ready for the spring, so would appreciate input from anyone who thinks they could help with this.
“The new items have already been used extensively by toddlers and teens, and the inclusive items are a fantastic addition that so many children will benefit from.”
The group is now looking ahead to phase two of the project which will see the installation of a large slide for older children along with the possibility of some smaller inclusive and sensory items.
