MAJOR improvement and renovation work is being considered for schools in Llanidloes as part of Powys County Council’s school improvement programme.

Under the plan, which was supported by Powys Cabinet members, a range of works are planned for Llanidloes High School and Llanidloes Primary School, including energy efficiency work, improvements to the shared kitchen and dining room, and the possible installation of a new 3G sports pitch at the high school.

The Schools Service Major Improvements Programme for 2018/19 to 2022/23 identifies a range of improvement schemes that the authority hopes to be able to proceed with at schools across the county.

That includes potential improvements to the schools at Llanidloes under a range of schemes.

Both Llanidloes High School and Primary School have been identified as schools that could benefit under the RE: FIT programme, which is aimed at improving energy efficiency.

That could see work to replace the high school’s under floor heating and a new boiler and radiators for the primary school.

The Welsh Government’s 21st Century Schools grant could also see works to upgrade the current shared kitchen and dining facilities at both schools.

The council is waiting to discover if a wind farm community contribution will provide the £300,000 needed to install a new 3G pitch for the high school.
