CONSTRUCTION work has been completed outside Ysgol Uwchradd Aberteifi along with footway improvements on Aberystwyth Road, which includes the completion of a new footway link outside B&M Store.

These are ‘Year Two’ grant-funded works from the Welsh Government’s Local Transport Fund of £98,500 with a further £11,500 match funding from Ceredigion County Council and £5,000 from Cardigan Town Council, providing a scheme total of £115,000.

These works follow on from improvements undertaken outside Cardigan Primary School last year.

Deputy council leader Ray Quant, Cabinet member for technical services, said: “I’m pleased that the Welsh Government has provided continued grant-funding so that the council can implement further improvements for the benefit of residents of Cardigan.

“The footway link on Aberystwyth Road has now been completed and a new pedestrian refuge has also been installed to help people cross the busy road to Tesco.”

The works outside Cardigan Secondary School have seen the implementation of a new 20mph zone with physical traffic-calming measures in the form of raised table crossings to aid pedestrian journeys to the school and also to the sports and leisure facilities on Gwbert Road.
