SCHOOLCHILDREN across Dyfed-Powys are being encouraged to design a Christmas card for Police and Crime Commissioner Christopher Salmon.
The winning entry in the art competition will be sent to hundreds of people on Mr Salmon’s Christmas list including Prime Minister David Cameron.
The Commissioner, who will mark three years in the role on November 22, said: “Strong schools are pivotal to strong communities across Carmarthenshire, Ceredigion, Pembrokeshire and Powys.
“For that reason, I’d like a school pupil to design my office’s 2015 Christmas card. This will be selected through a competition open to all year six pupils across the region.”
The winning design will go to hundreds of contacts, ranging from members of the public to Police and Crime Commissioners around England and Wales.
The prize is a tour of Police HQ near Carmarthen and £200 to spend on a community safety initiative of the school’s choice.
The theme of the competition reflects Mr Salmon’s priorities to keep communities safe. The accent is on fun, colour, Wales and safety.
All Dyfed-Powys schools with a year six – for children aged 10 to 11 – have been emailed details; entries deadline is 27 November.
Last year the competition was won by 10-year-olds William Wilson and Henry White, of Roch Community School, Pembrokeshire. The 2013 honour went to Oliver Thomas, of Llandeilo Primary School, Carmarthenshire.
