Madam,

Of all the things to get outraged about, Cllr Shewring has chosen the ‘eyesore’ that is “bikes chained to posts on the streets of Aberyswyth”.

Apparently, this causes “great concern”. Of course bikes shouldn’t obstruct pavements but let’s take a moment to think of all the other concerns, both locally and globally, that could take up copy space in your paper? Bet most people could come up with something a bit more “concerning” than bikes chained to posts.

And as well as some perspective on this matter, how about some councillor energy to help find a solution? I’m assuming Cllr Shewring isn’t “anti-bike”, so how about campaigning for some decent bike racks and storage facilities for those who use their bikes in town?

After all, those of us who drive cars (and ride bikes) get to park our “beautiful machines”, wherever parking restrictions allow.

Often inhibiting, and on occasions blocking, pedestrian access… all quite legitimately of course.
