The future of empty garages in Penparcau is being considered by social housing association Tai Ceredigion.

The garages near Ysgol Llwyn yr Eos have been empty for around three years, according to disgruntled residents.

Tai Ceredigion is said to be missing out on rental income from the garages while residents struggle to park near their homes.

Tai Ceredigion said the association was now considering other potential uses for the site of the garages.

A range of options are being drawn up, which will be announced publicly when options have been finalised.

A spokesperson said: “Tai Ceredigion staff are actively looking into many options with regards to the garages near Llwyn yr Eos school and will share information on our intentions in due course.”

One nearby resident, John Mleczek, was critical of the length of time it has taken for the future of the vacant garages to be considered, especially as it meant that rental income was not being collected.

Mr Mleczek said the garages had been left empty for around three years with no income at all coming from them.

But, despite that, he said no consideration seemed to have been given to demolishing them and providing more parking for residents in the area.

He said: “Why after three years of lost rent from 38 empty garages by Llwyn yr Eos School and flats, have they not been pulled down and the area cleaned up so cars can park there?

“We are short of parking spaces.”
