Ceredigion continues to have the lowest rate of cases per 100,000 population in Wales, with just three new cases recorded in the past 24 hours, according to official figures from Public Health Wales.

The county’s seven-day total for 1 to 7 February stands at 28 cases, a rate of 38.5 per 100,000 population.

The total number of positive cases since the start of the pandemic is 1,677 – also the lowest in Wales - meaning 7.7 per cent of the 21,688 tests have returned a positive result.

This gives Ceredigion the fifth lowest proportion of positive cases compared to other Welsh counties.

Elsewhere in the Hywel Dda Health Board region, Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire have reported 35 and 16 new cases respectively.

The rolling seven-day total in Carmarthenshire is 186, and 69 in Pembrokeshire.

In Powys, 41 new cases were reported today, taking the overall total to 3,711 - a 8.3 per cent positive proportion of the total 44,717 tests carried out in the county.

In Gwynedd, 17 new cases were reported today while the seven-day total for the 1 to 7 February period is 108, resulting in a rate of 86.7 per 100,000 population.

A total of 2,694 positive cases have been returned in the county since the pandemic’s start, meaning 5.9 per cent of the total 45,959 tests have been positive.

In Wales as a whole, 608 new cases and 25 deaths have been reported today, taking the total tallies to 198,362 and 5,084 respectively.

According to Public Health Wales, 715,944 people in Wales have received a first dose of a Covid-19 vaccine, and 4,010 have also had their second dose.

As of 7 February, 74,652 vaccines had been administered by Hywel Dda Health Board, 33,490 by Powys Teaching Health Board, and 144,469 by Betsi Cadwaladr Health Board which covers Gwynedd.
