Wales has again recorded no new deaths today with 49 new cases of coronavirus recorded across the country.

Of those 49 cases, four were recorded in Gwynedd, with Carmarthenshire recording two new cases of Covid-19 and Pembrokeshire, three new cases.

Ceredigion and Powys both recorded one new case each.

The First Minister is expected to make an announcement tomorrow (Friday) on lockdown measures, where it is expected that the country will move to Alert Level 1 for the first time since the start of the second wave of the virus.

Concerns are being raised however over the so-called Indian variant of the virus and its spread across the UK.

The First Minister’s Cabinet are believed to be meeting today to discuss the next three weeks and if Wales moves to Alert Level 1, here is what to expect from the new rules:

· In private homes, the rule of six could be brought in, meaning that up to six people from six households could meet, not including under-11s or extended households.

· Up to three households would be able to form an extended household.

· Up to 30 people would be allowed to meet outdoors, although the rule of six would remain for private gardens.

· Up to 50 people would be allowed to meet for organised indoor activity, while up to 100 could meet for organised outdoor activity.

Latest vaccination figures released by Hywel Dda Health Board show that almost two thirds of Ceredigion residents have now received their first coronavirus vaccine dose, latest figures have revealed.

The second dose has been given to 36.7 per cent of people, meaning 36,714 Ceredigion residents are fully vaccinated against the virus.

Overall in Hywel Dda, the “collective efforts of primary care and mass vaccination centres” saw the health board deliver the 400,000th vaccine on 1 June, meaning 260,447 of our eligible population have now received a first vaccine and 147,439 have now received a full course.

The health board said “thank you to everyone who has come forward for their vaccine to date”.
