A dozen new deaths with coronavirus have been reported in the latest

figures released by Public Health Wales this lunchtime.

The total number of deaths in the country now stands at 5,356, while 208 new cases were recorded today, taking the overall tally to 204,196.

In Ceredigion, one new case was reported in the last 24 hours, and the seven-day rolling total (for 20 to 26 February) is just 18, resulting in a rate of 24.8 cases per 100,000 population – the lowest in Wales.

The total number of positive cases since the start of the pandemic is 1,724 – also the lowest in Wales - meaning 7.5 per cent of the 23,098 tests have returned a positive result.

Elsewhere in the Hywel Dda Health Board region, Carmarthenshire has reported nine new cases and Pembrokeshire two.

The rolling seven-day total in Carmarthenshire is 94, and 32 in Pembrokeshire.

In Powys, seven new cases were reported today, taking the overall total to 3,972 - an 8.3 per cent positive proportion of the total 48,094 tests carried out in the county.

Gwynedd has recorded nine new cases today, while the county’s rolling seven-day total is 115, resulting in a rate of 92.3 cases per 100,000 population – the highest in Wales.

A total of 2,988 positive cases have been returned in the county since the pandemic’s start, meaning 6 per cent of the total 49,673 tests have been positive.

According to Public Health Wales, 942,017 people in Wales have now received a first dose of a Covid-19 vaccine, and 124,781 have also had their second dose.
