Over 2,000 new Covid-19 cases have been reported in the latest figures released this lunchtime by Public Health Wales.

Monday’s daily figures cover a 48-hour period up to 9am on Sunday show that 2,394 new cases of coronavirus were recorded over that time, with three new deaths.

Ceredigion saw a big jump in cases over those 48 hours, with 54 cases being recorded.

Carmarthenshire recorded 96 cases with Pembrokeshire recording 88.

Elsewhere 137 cases were recorded in Powys with 97 in Gwynedd.

The three new recorded deaths today, along with the four recorded on Sunday, mean that a total of 5,641 people have died from the virus since the start of the pandemic.

490 deaths have been recorded in the Hywel Dda region of Ceredigion, Carmarthenshire and Pembrokeshire, with 66 in Powys and 967 in the Betsi Cadwaladr region of north Wales.
