TREGARON’S joint health and social care scheme has moved a step closer after Ceredigion Cabinet members backed moves to buy land for the development and agree a deal with Hywel Dda Health Board over the scheme.
The Cylch Caron scheme has won praise, including from the Welsh Government, as an innovative way of providing both health and care services and will see health and care facilities alongside sheltered housing.
While the scheme has been on the drawing board for a number of years, council leader Ellen ap Gwynn said progress was being made with the council’s Cabinet giving delegated authority to officers to push ahead with the purchase of the land in Tregaron after Welsh Government funding was provided to buy the land and draw up a full business case for the scheme.
There was also approval for the council to draw up a “collaboration agreement” with the health board to ensure that the health board is committed to the scheme, as well as agreeing a 125-year lease with a delivery partner.
