A group has been set up to make Pwllheli a Dementia Friendly Town.
A panel is being set up and organisers are hoping to attract businesses and locals to a meeting to discuss how little things can make a big difference to people who suffer with the disease.
A meeting is to be held at St Peter’s Church on Wednesday, 12 June at 5pm and locals and businesses are invited to come along and find out what they can do to make lives a little easier.
One of the organisers, Donna Jones, said: “What this scheme does is it pledges to improve things for dementia sufferers.
“It’s one of those diseases that people don’t know a great deal about until they have personal experience with someone who suffers with it.”
A panel is being set up to improve facilities and awareness in Pwllheli.
Dementia Friendly Communities is an Alzheimer’s Society initiative which is supported by the Welsh Government but driven by volunteers.
Dementia-friendly businesses are provided with stickers displaying the Alzheimer’s Society forget-me-nots flower logo, which are date-stamped to encourage business owners to maintain standards.
