BOTH Ceredigion and Gwynedd have recorded seven new cases of coronavirus today, according to official figures.

Across Wales, 1,048 new cases of Covid-19 have been recorded over the past 24 hours and 23 deaths have been attributed to the virus.

These new deaths take the total in Wales since the pandemic began in March to 2,307.

The seven new cases in Ceredigion take the seven-day total in the county to 68 with an infection rate of 93.5 cases per 100,000 population, the standard form of measurement across the UK.

Gwynedd also recorded seven cases, taking its weekly total to 43 and leaving the county with an infection rate of 34.5 cases.

Powys recorded 37 new cases today, taking the seven-day total to 109 and leaving the county with an infection rate of 82.3.

Carmarthenshire has recorded 42 new cases today taking the weekly total to 279 and leaving it with an infection rate of 147.8 cases per 100,000.

Pembrokeshire has recorded 16 new cases today taking the weekly total to 55.6 and giving it an infection rate of 55.6.

In Ceredigion, of the nine separate wards, Rheidol, Ystwyth and Caron has recorded the highest number of new cases in the last seven days, with 24, giving the region an infection rate of 207.9 cases per 100,000 population.

11 cases have been recorded in the Aberystwyth South area, with just three in Aberystwyth North.

Borth and Bontgoch as recorded seven cases in the last seven days, while Cardigan and Aberporth has recorded nine.

Eight cases have been recorded in Beulah, Troedyraur and Llandysul; three in Aberaeron and Llanrhystud; and between 0 and two in New Quay and Penbryn and Lampeter and Llanfihangel Ystrad.

Five cases have been recorded in the Machynlleth and Banwy area of Powys in the last seven days, while Llanidloes, Blaen Hafren and Llandinam has recorded between 0 and two.

New cases remain low in Gwynedd with Blaenau Ffestiniog and Trawsfynydd recording the highest number of cases, six in the last seven days.
