FFOSYFFIN Horse Show is set to return in 2017 – three years after it was last held.

Scheduled for 7 May, it will be combined with a TSR (The Showing Register) training course the previous day and will offer riders a chance to compete at the Horse of the Year Show through its talent-spotting scheme.

Recognised as one of the most popular shows in west Wales, the show has always drawn competitors from far afield.

Founders Lin Herridge and Anna Gapper cannot wait for next May.

“Both Anna and I have been asked many times if we can run the show again,” said Lin.

“People missed it and had looked forward to it every year.“We had people who came first to the show as little tots coming back with their own children and wanting them to have the Ffosyffin experience of showing. Apart from in the 2001 foot and mouth outbreak, we ran the show every year for 22 years.

“The show expanded and changed over the years, but the basic principles remained a show for everyone and every pony or horse.

“When Cerrig Evans, our fabulous landowner of the old showground, decided to retire and hand over the running of the farm to the next generation, Anna and I decided to retire too - but now we have a new venue at Celaeron Equestrian Centre.”
