Carols

ON SUNDAY, 20 December, the Friends of The Tabernacle are hosting an evening of Christmas carols with the ever-popular Chris Dendy & Pupils. Admission to the event is free and takes place at the Tabernacle, starting at 3.30pm. Mulled wine and mince pies, tea, coffee and a raffle will be available on the night. All welcome.

Question Time

Bowls AGM

THE BOWLING club held its 2015/16 AGM on Friday, 11 December, and heard that long-serving member Clifford Roberts had indicated his wish to retire from his position as one of the club’s four trustees. Clifford’s loyal service as one of the founder-trustees was recognised by all present and drew appropriate expressions of appreciation. Officers elected were Michael Williams, president; Julian Fenwick, vice-president; Michael Rogers, chairman; Philip Jenkins, vice-chairman; Andrew Fleming, secretary; Barry Fleming, treasurer; Philip Jenkins, club captain.Committee: John Rogers, Eileen Jones, Thomas Jenkins, Elsbeth McAuley, Betty Fleming, Alwyn Jones and Don Lewis. Trustees: Andrew Fleming, Michael Rogers, John L Williams and Michael Williams.Prior to the election of officers and committee, president Michael Williams led the members in silent tribute to those members who’d passed away over the last 12 months.Officers then gave their annual reports, including, very importantly, the annual ac-counts, which were received and approved with members’ grateful thanks. The officers’ reports made mention of the club’s achievements at all levels of the game, including international, national, county, club, railway and national fire service competitions. Thanks were also given to the pool, darts and dominoes teams, the bar staff and cleaners, all who run the various bingo, whist and lottery-number competitions and all others who help in any way.
