AN Aberdyfi teenager with cerebral palsy has completed a 39-mile cycling challenge to raise £11,000 for his school.
On Friday, Mackenzie Beeson cycled from Newtown to Aberdyfi to raise money for Ysgol Cedewain.
With Aberdyfi fire crew leading the way, Mackenzie cycled to the finish in Aberdyfi to be greeted by cheers from his supporters.
Mackenzie’s mother, Ann said: “We are all so proud of Mackenzie.
“Along the route we’ve experienced every kind of weather condition imaginable, rain, wind, hail, sleet, snow and sunshine, but Mackenzie just kept going with a big smile on his face the whole time.
“We set off this morning from Newtown at 9.15am and the whole school came out to give Mackenzie a big send off.
“The Newtown fire crew also came out in support so that was a great boost and a wonderful way to start the challenge.
“Local cyclists Dave Wood and Gareth Davies have been fantastic and cycled along with Mackenzie the whole way giving him great encouragement.
“I wouldn’t be surprised if he soon starts thinking about another one!”
