A YOUNG football fan was left “star-struck” after meeting his football heroes in Cardiff on Sunday.
Lucky Morgan Charlton, 7, was one of the matchday mascots at Wales’ 1-1 draw with Georgia in a World Cup qualifier held at the Cardiff City Stadium.
Although Wales did not register a win on the day, Morgan still found the whole experience “amazing”, especially as it was his first ever international game.
The Dyffryn Ardudwy pupil walked out onto the pitch holding hands with striker Sam Vokes, who memorably scored the third goal in Wales’ phenomenal 3-1 win over Belgium in this summer’s European Championships, and Morgan admits to being a little awestruck when he saw his football idol Gareth Bale standing just a few feet away.
The seven-year-old, who also plays for Barmouth & Dyffryn under-8s, was thrilled to receive a full Wales kit to cheer on the nation throughout the rest of their campaign.
Morgan’s father Liam said that Morgan was “over the moon” to be part of proceedings.
