PENPARCAU’S new £650,000 community centre received “phenomenal” feedback last weekend as the village came together to celebrate its completion.
After almost a year of construction works and five years since the idea was floated, staff and volunteers at Penparcau Community Forum were able to show the community the fruits of their labour on Saturday.
The celebrations started at midday and included stalls, face painting, hair beading, line dancing, a cooking demonstration, and local 1960s band, The Hornettes, capped off a “tremendous” day with their highly-popular performance.
And the centre, which was built thanks to a £490,000 grant from the Welsh Government and £150,000 from the People’s Health Trust, was also very well received, forum director Dylan Jones told the Cambrian News.
“It was a tremendous day with a phenomenal amount of positive feedback,” said Mr Jones.
“A lot of people said they had been walking by the place and had no idea what it was until they came in, and were left pleasantly surprised.
“I don’t think I heard one remotely negative comment. The people who came loved it.”
