Editor,

We hear such sad news of people unable to gain access to a doctor, getting a diagnosis or waiting for an operation. Here is my story. I had a persistent cough at the end of June and, after seeing the advert on television advising to get medical advice if you had a persistent cough, I was sent for an x-ray by my doctor. On receiving the x-ray he forwarded it to Bronglais where it was seen by a leading lung specialist. From there I had a biopsy, EEG, ECG, PET and CAT scans and many other tests in various hospitals.

It is now mid-October and I have just returned home after my operation for lung cancer at Morriston Hospital.

From the beginning all I have is praise for my doctor and the medical team I met. They have been wonderful. In the time that we live in, I cannot convey enough appreciation for the people working in this vocation. Thank you very much.
