Madam,
Like the Labour Assembly candidate, Mr MacIntyre, and his wife (letters, last week’s Cambrian News) I too was in Tywyn canvassing and can certainly confirm that indeed health, jobs and education are the three biggest local issues on the door-step; immigration is also mentioned but not as a local issue. These three big issues are all the responsibility of the Welsh Government and it’s no surprise they are of most concern. One in seven is on a Welsh NHS waiting list. Routine hip, knee and cataract operations can take up to three or four times longer on a Welsh waiting list than an English one. Jobs Growth Wales has had its successes but overall Wales lags behind in employment growth, and our young people leave. Educational standards in Wales are below the rest of the UK and score poorly in European league tables. I look forward to some good debating in the forthcoming election.
Yours etc
Neil Fairlamb
