AN ABERYSTWYTH construction company has gone into liquidation forcing a housing association to find an alternative company to complete new flats in the town.

Vallis Facilities Management, which has an office at Aberystwyth Science Park, has gone into liquidation amid suggestions that it owes local tradespeople and suppliers thousands of pounds.

The company was contacted for comment, but no response was received.

The company’s liquidation has hit the construction of 22 flats at the old Tabernacle Chapel site, a scheme developed by Mid Wales Housing Association with backing from the Welsh Government.

A spokesperson for Mid Wales Housing confirmed the liquidation of Vallis and said the situation would lead to a delay in the completion of the Tabernacle development.

The scheme had already been hit when it emerged that a bay window had been built too far out over the pavement, leading to a planning application to amend the permission already granted to allow the building to be retained as it is.

However, the spokesperson said while that had not caused a delay to the scheme, Vallis FM going into liquidation had caused a problem.
