THE Welsh Government has requested the documents on a controversial large-scale housing development in Llanbadarn Fawr after it was given the provisional go-ahead by planners.

The move, welcomed by local councillors and objectors, comes after a request was made to Welsh Government Planning Inspectorate Wales by a member of the public concerning the recent application.

Councillors approved the outline plans to build 48 homes at Brynteg on Primrose Hill despite strong objections over fears of flooding and traffic congestion.

A decision to approve or refuse planning permission was deferred in December to allow a site inspection panel to visit the site and present its findings to committee.

Powers to approve the application were handed to the head of Ceredigion Lifestyle Services by planning committee members, pending completion of S106 agreement for the provision of affordable housing, phasing of the development and green space provision.

Llanbadarn councillor Paul James, who complained that the application would cause more flooding misery after a Boxing Day deluge which left the roads “running like a river”, said he was glad that the application is being looked at.

“Residents are upset that this plan was approved and have already asked me about the procedure for calling the decision in,” Cllr James said.
