Plans for the next phase of a path between Penrhyncoch and Bow Street’s new transport interchange are being drawn up by Ceredigion County Council officials.
The first stage of work, that saw a shared use path between Bow Street and the IBERS campus, was completed during the 2018/19 financial year with grant funding from the Welsh Government for the project which cost almost £540,000 in total.
With the council releasing its Annual Active Travel Report outlining the projects worth £1m it has completed, the council has said it is working on proposals for the next stage of the path towards Penrhyncoch.
The expanded path would provide a link to the new Bow Street train station and bus interchange and Penrhyncoch.
The report said that there were a range of developments completed in the last year, but plans are already being drawn up for the expansion of the path.
A council spokesperson said: “This path will help link the new Aberystwyth Innovation and Enterprise Campus development site to the Bow Street rail station which is scheduled to open next year.
“The council is currently working on proposals to extend the shared use path towards Penrhyncoch.”
Other developments in the Aberystwyth area in last year’s Active Travel scheme included cycling improvements in Aberystwyth such as cycle wheel ramps, public bike repair stations, new cycle shelters and new e-bike charging stations at a range of locations.
