WALKERS and ramblers will benefit from a new project aimed at opening a five-mile circular path near Lampeter this month.
The path goes from Cellan, taking in the hills around the Teifi Valley village, and aims to get people enjoying the outdoors and Welsh countryside.
The project is funded by the Welsh Government and is part of Ceredigion County Council’s Rights of Way Improvement Plan 2015, which aims to improve paths and routes across the county for residents.
Cllr Gareth Lloyd, Cabinet member with responsibility for economic and community development service, said: “The volunteer groups have done a lot of excellent work so far, with several awkward stiles replaced with self-closing gates, and 10 bridges of various sizes have been installed across numerous streams and ditches.”
So far, Lampeter Ramblers Volunteer Group and Aberystwyth Ramblers Volunteer Group, with help from local contractors Dyfrig Jones, Richard Hicks and Alistair Severs, have carried out work on various stages of the route, with the last stage to be completed over the next few weeks.
