SHELTERS near Criccieth beach have been repaired and painted, much to the relief of local residents.
Earlier this year, the Cambrian News reported local concern over the state of the shelters.
Thanks to the town council and Gwynedd Council, the shelters have been repainted a deep blue colour.
Jan Lloyd Nicholson was one local resident who flagged up the state of the shelters.
She told the Cambrian News of her relief that they have now been painted.
She said: “I am so pleased after highlighting this problem through social media and the Cambrian News that Cyngor Tref Criccieth took action and repaired and painted the shelters.
“Thank you also to Paul Downes, painter and decorator, with his assistant Gavin. It has made such a difference to our promenade and has lifted the spirits of so many.
“I hope that people will respect the shelters and use the litter bins nearby to dispose of their rubbish and keep Criccieth looking beautiful. Diolch yn fawr iawn Cyngor Tref Criccieth.”
Cllr Sian Williams, chair of Criccieth council said: “We are delighted that working in partnership with Gwynedd Council we have been able to repair and repaint the coastal shelters which are almost 100 years old.
“They look very smart in their new shade of marine blue and are now ready for the enjoyment of locals and visitors alike over the summer period.”
