THOUSANDS of pounds have been made available to sports clubs across Dwyfor and Meirionnydd.

Gwynedd Community Chest has allocated a total of £13,913 to 10 sports clubs and organisations.

The Trefor Walking Group, Glaslyn Adventure Club and Moelwyn Gymnastics Club all received grants for new equipment, better facilities and increased coaching opportunities.

The grant money that Gwynedd Community Chest is allocating, along with Gwynedd Council’s Healthy Gwynedd objective to promote fitness, will help to promote sports clubs and organisation, and to provide better sports opportunities for the county’s residents.

Cllr Mair Rowlands, Gwynedd Council Cabinet member for Healthy Gwynedd, said: “The purpose of Gwynedd Community Chest is to support and promote a variety of sports in every part of the county.

“As a council, we acknowledge the importance and the need for sports clubs and organisations in our communities, and it is important that we provide as much support as possible for them to succeed.

“It is extremely encouraging that the Community Chest grants continue to help the majority of the sports clubs and organisations in Gwynedd.

“We encourage any sports club or organisation in Gwynedd that believes that it is eligible to receive financial support from Gwynedd Community Chest to submit an application as soon as possible.

“A grant like this can ensure the success and development of your club or organisation in this current challenging financial period.”
