BUS users have been left “high and dry” after a recent shake-up saw a reduction in services across Dwyfor, according to a local councillor.

Following the Traffic Commissioner’s decision, Express Motors will not have licences to provide buses to the public after Sunday, 31 December, leading to a major shake-up of bus routes in the area.

A spokesperson for the council said they were “making every effort to ensure that there are public bus services in place of the services that Express Motors currently provide”.

From 2 January 2018 onward, public bus services that have been provided by the Express Motors company will be run by other companies on behalf of the local authority but they admit there may not currently be enough buses available to them to provide a full service.

Speaking to the Cambrian News he said: “I am waiting for more information, but the transport department will probably have nothing more to add until next week about new services. It is a shock and all Express Motors passengers have been left high and dry.

“We all knew months ago that there were going to be problems, yet the council Cabinet only discussed the matter a few days ago.

“At this stage, nothing is certain but at least we have some good news. I have received notification that the Trawscymru T2 service will be coming to Garndolbenmaen.

“I do not know the details of the service – times and routes etc – and I’m not sure if Rhoslan, Criccieth and Pentrefelin are included. We shall see.”
