I was enlightened and grateful for the letters of support regarding second homes owners.

I myself have this privilege, but began to feel ostracised not only being unable to use my house for the past 12 months, but the hostility shown against us from Gwynedd Council.

I have written to various people in authority but to no avail.

We are not a strain on their communities but part of their economy.

I inherited a one-bedroom terraced house from my grandfather 32 years ago and it’s always a pleasure to return to my hometown for the peace, tranquillity and enjoy the beauty of Wales. But the council are discriminating and exploiting us with proper justification.

I am now a pensioner in my 70s and due to this immense 100 per cent increase which far exceeds my own council tax for my main residence, I can no longer afford a second home, the money from the sale will never compensate from the loss of a much-loved house and my family and I are deeply saddened by the prospect.

After this country going through a pandemic, people have lost their lives, homes and businesses it seems intolerable that a group of people can make this decision.

The survey which must have cost thousands to construct has been totally disregarded as the outcome was in our favour. What happened to democracy?
