Boxing Day looks set to be a wild one with meteorologists issuing a weather warning for winds of up to 80mph.
A yellow weather warning will be in force from 3pm on Boxing Day until midday on Sunday, 27 December with very windy weather expected across all of Wales.
A Met Office spokesperson said: “An area of strong southwesterly winds will develop on Saturday afternoon.
“Inland gusts of 50 to 60mph are likely, with the potential for 60 to 70mph in some locations.
“Hills and coasts exposed to the southwesterly winds could see gusts of 70 to 80mph.
“In addition to the strong winds, a period of heavy, squally rain will affect western and southern areas. Combined with strong winds, the rain will lead to some hazardous travelling conditions.”
Temperatures are also set to plummet this week, with Christmas Day starting at freezing or below for much of Wales.
Weather warnings for rain are also in place today for southern parts of Wales with around 20 to 40mm of rain possible.
The Boxing Day weather however has the potential to cause travel disruptions, although the country will be in Tier 4 lockdown anyway with travel restricted and possibly lead to power cuts and some damage to buildings.
