A BARMOUTH fisherman rescued a man and his baby from the town’s harbour after they got stuck in the mud.
Barmouth’s inshore lifeboat received a call at 6.39pm on 1 April to go to the aid of two people stuck in the mud in the town’s harbour.
As the crew arrived, they found local fisherman Johnny Johnson on the scene where a father and his small baby son had become stuck in mud up to their knees.
Johnny managed to help the father and young son onto his dinghy.
The casualties were transferred to the inshore lifeboat and taken to the pontoon alongside the harbour wall.
When they were assured that the young family was safe and no medical intervention was required, the volunteer crew returned to the station at 7pm and the boat was washed down and made ready for service by 7.30pm.
