A man has been “voluntarily interviewed” by police after a reported assault on a traffic warden in Aberystwyth.

The member of Ceredigion County Council’s Parking Services Team was allegedly pushed to the ground by another man on Great Darkgate Street, near Nationwide Building Society, at around 12.50pm on Monday, 1 October.

Dyfed-Powys Police said officers attended after they received a “report of an assault”.

“A man was witnessed pushing another man causing him to fall to the ground,” a police spokesperson said.

“He suffered no visible injuries but was shaken up by the incident.

“The suspect has been identified and voluntarily interviewed this afternoon [Monday].”

An ambulance attended the incident.

The outcome of the interview of the suspect is not yet known.

A Ceredigion council spokesperson said: “The council is aware of an incident that has occurred in Aberystwyth town centre on Monday, 1 October, involving a member of its Parking Services Team.

“Investigations into the matter are ongoing and therefore it would be inappropriate to provide any further comment at this stage.”
