A MAN has been banned for 16 months after he admitted drug-driving – on a souped-up bicycle.

Magistrates at Caernarfon heard 21-year-old Daniel Bernard Smith’s home converted bike had an 80cc engine capable of 30mph and he didn’t realise he needed a licence and insurance.

Fines totalling £370 were imposed with £115 costs on jobless cocaine and cannabis user Bernard Smith, of Glan Wendon, Tywyn.

Prosecutor Diane Williams said police saw him at the end of August and both drugs were found in his blood.

Defence solicitor Andrew Scott said Bernard Smith hadn’t realised he needed a licence and insurance to be on the road with the motorised bike.
