A WOMAN has been airlifted to hospital following a fall from cliffs near Tanybwlch on Saturday afternoon.

Emergency services rushed to the scene at around 5pm on Saturday following reports of a woman who had fallen from cliffs at the southern end of the beach.

In a statement posted on Aberystwyth Coastguard Search and Rescue Team's Facebook page this evening, they say: "Team called out this afternoon to a person injured south of Tanybwlch.

"It was decided that due to her injuries that she should be airlifted out.

"Helimed 59 from Welshpool was tasked, and the casualty was packaged by Aberystwyth Coastguard CROs.

"We wish the casualty a speedy recovery."

Aberystwyth Lifeboat, who were quickly on the scene when the call came in and gave the casualty care, added: "Casualty transferred to air ambulance which landed on a very difficult area due to the terrain well done, excellent flying skills.

"A multi agency rescue with HM Coastguard also in attendance."
