A community was reeling with joy after a fishing fun day.
An event to celebrate the fishing industry of Cardigan Bay was held at Aberdyfi on Saturday, 21 July.
‘A Day on the Quay’ was promoted by Fisherman’s Local Action Group with European funding support to highlight the importance fishing has played in Wales’ economy for many generations past and is still a thriving, productive industry along Cardigan Bay today.
The continuing good weather helped to ensure that the event was very well supported with something for everyone to enjoy - including a free mackerel barbecue, fish preparation and cooking demonstrations, live lobster tank and activities for youngsters.
There were also displays from the Welsh Wildlife Trust, RNLI and Aberystwyth University.
One of the highlights of the day was a fly-fishing demonstration from master casting instructor Illtyd Griffiths, a fisherman for over 60 years who regards the River Dyfi as being one of the best runs for sea trout in the world.
