A VILLAGE in Gwynedd has been voted as one of the best places to live by the sea.

The Sunday Times has announced that Aberdyfi is one of the brightest spots on the UK’s 11,000 miles of coastline, suggesting its “strong community spirit” is what makes the area a special place to live regardless of the season.

A glowing report in the paper read: “There’s a reason you pay almost double the county average to live in Aberdyfi.

"You can walk for miles along the sandy beach, keeping an eye out for seals and otters in the estuary, or for the dolphins that follow the windsurfers in Cardigan Bay. In the off season, a strong community spirit takes centre stage.

"Ready yourself for the boos and cheers in the Aberdyfi Players’ annual panto, held in the lavish community hall — this year it’s Treasure Island — and reserve the more polite clapping for the regular touring theatre productions. The hall also hosts fitness classes, and the village has a rowing club, a choir and cosy pubs to catch up in.

“Most shops remain open all year, including an excellent butcher and a fine deli, and ice cream shops.”
