FOUR members of Aberglaslyn Mountain Rescue Team have received long service awards.

Jon Dobson Jones, Paul Jones, Dion Jones and David Evans have been honoured for their dedication to the mountain rescue group. They have a combined service of 120 years for the team.

A virtual presentation took place at the team’s annual general meeting on 1 March.

A spokesperson for Aberglaslyn Mountain Rescue Team said: “Our chairman Gethin Edwards was delighted to be able to (virtually) present four of our team Members with Mountain Rescue England and Wales Long Service Awards for their years of exemplary service to Mountain Rescue.

“Jon Dobson Jones was presented with an award for 40 years’ service between the Moelwyn, South Snowdonia and Aberglaslyn MRTs.

“Paul Jones was presented with an award for 25 years’ service, having been a founder member of Aberglaslyn MRT since its inception in 1996

“Dion Jones was presented with an award for 25 years’ service to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Aberglaslyn MRT.

“Dion was also a member of the South Snowdonia MRT and celebrates 30 years of service to mountain rescue this year.

“David Evans was presented with an award for 25 years’ service to also celebrate the 25th anniversary of Aberglaslyn MRT.

“Dave was also a member of the Rhinog and South Snowdonia MRTs and celebrates 34 years of service to Mountain Rescue this year.”

The spokesperson added: “Congratulations to all from the Aberglaslyn MRT family.”
