An Aberystwyth man has raised over £1,700 for Cancer Research UK.

Jeremy Turner, founder of Cwmni Arad Goch, has raised £1,741 so far through the cancer charity’s ‘Walk a Mile a Day in September’ challenge.

The challenge saw Jeremy walk a total of 31 miles, more than the required 30, in September for a cause very close to his heart.

“I’m going through cancer at the moment and I feel every little helps,” the 68-year-old explained.

“And I’d like to say that the treatment I’m getting at Bronglais Hospital is fantastic.”

Jeremy lives in town and got into a daily pattern to complete the challenge.

“I live up on the Buarth and walked through town, along the prom and back home,” he explained.

“I usually called in a local coffee shop on the way.”

Jeremy took to Facebook to following the completion of the challenge to thank those who had supported him. He said: “Walk a Mile a Day in September for Cancer Research UK - done, finished with a bit of help from my friends during the last week when I've been ill.

“Thanks to everyone who contributed and to my walking mates Gemma Light, Catherine Elan Taylor, Rocet Arwel Jones, Siôn Meredith, Alison Nicholson and, of course, Mari Owen.”

Jeremy is fully retired from his role as Artistic Director of the Arad Goch theatre company, but earlier this year he finished archiving Arad Goch’s archive and presented it to the National Library.

He is currently working on another archiving project, as he explained.

“At the moment, as well as this challenge, I am archiving items from Cwmni Cyfri Tri and Theatr Crwban, the two companies that merged to form Arad Goch, and those items will also go to the National Library.
