Madam,

At the annual coffee morning held on Good Friday at Aberaeron Sports Club the sum of £1,120 was raised for Cancer Research UK, with a further promise of £500 to be received under the pound for pound scheme from HSBC.

It is with sadness that I write that the committee members of the Aberaeron Fund-Raising Committee have decided to cease its affiliation with Cancer Research UK having been unable to find new officers for the roles of chairman, secretary and treasurer.

In my years as chairman for nearly 30 years and simultaneously secretary for 20 years, I received and greatly appreciated the help, support, generosity, goodwill and friendship extended to me by businesses, organisations and individuals. We have been very fortunate in our venues for events - London House, the Vestry of Peniel Chapel and particularly Aberaeron Sports Club. My thanks are due to all who have served on the committee, past and present, and for a happy working relationship.

I am proud to record that the total sum of £167,120.78 has been raised by the Aberaeron committee and remitted to Cancer Research UK. This has only been achievable through the fantastic support received and I extend my thanks to all.

It is planned to continue with fundraising events in Aberaeron supporting worthwhile charities in the future.

Yours etc, Neris Lloyd, Immediate past chairman and secretary, Aberaeron Fundraising Committee for Cancer Research UK.
