ALL Blacks legend Sean Fitzpatrick had a whistle-stop tour of local rugby clubs earlier today as he takes part in the ‘Tour de Scarlets’ fundraising challenge.
The group of cyclists consisting of Scarlets players and New Zealand great, Sean Fitzpatrick, are cycling 350 miles to visit 53 local rugby clubs to raise money that will be funnelled back into the grassroots of the game.
The tour started in South Wales on Monday before taking in the Pembrokeshire coast and the Teifi Valley on Tuesday, visiting Newcastle Emlyn RFC and Cardigan RFC.
Earlier today (Wednesday) the cyclists stopped at rugby clubs in Aberaeron, Aberystwyth, Tregaron, Lampeter, Llanybydder and Llandovery.
Sean and the rest of the Scarlets Foundation riders are pictured above meeting with members of Tregaron Rugby Club, who said it was “fantastic to have one of the best players in the history of the game visiting Tregaron today".
Scarlets Community Foundation officer Rhodri Jones said: “We hope to raise much-needed funds to invest back into our community clubs and female rugby hubs with their return to play and getting ready for the new season.
“The funds will also support the continued work of the Foundation following on from our care pack campaign during the Covid-19 pandemic.”
