A MEIRIONNYDD woman is about to set out on the “adventure of a lifetime” travelling around the world by sea educating those less fortunate than herself.

Amelia Vine, a nursery school teacher who grew up in Barmouth, is joining a ship called Logos Hope which sails all over offering humanitarian aid to those who need it most.

The 39-year-old will spend two years aboard the ship travelling throughout Africa, the Caribbean and South America teaching children and adults of all ages.

OM Ships International is the organisation behind Logos Hope.

The Ships Ministry began in 1970 as part of the global Christian training and outreach movement, OM International.

Since then OM’s ships have visited over 500 different ports in 151 countries and territories and welcomed over 44 million visitors on board.

Logos Hope, a converted car ferry, can hold up to 10,000 people at a time and often carries whole families, which Amelia will also help teach.

The teacher, who had lived in London for some years before embarking on her exciting new journey, aims to raise £650 a month in donations during her time on the ship.
